How far away should a pool table be from a wall?

I want to turn our sun room into a game room which will include a pool table. What should the distance be between the wall and the pool table? How far away should a pool table be from a wall?
Minimum of 5 feet to the inside of the cloth rail.

This will allow you to hit a cue ball resting on the rail with a 3'; stroke, a cue stick is 57'; long. How far away should a pool table be from a wall?
The general rule-of-thumb is to have five feet on each side of the table. Most cues are 58 inches long, so this will give you just enough room to fit the cue, although you'll have to angle it slightly to get a decent backswing. Or you could always have shorter cues handy in these trouble spots.

Tables are generally sized as 3.5 x 7 ft, 4 x 8 ft, or 4.5 x 9 ft. So just add 10 feet to each dimension to get the total size of the room that will minimally comfortably fit a table.
