How do I make a granite dining table?

Does anyone have experience in having a granite table custom made? I would like to find out if I can simply order a round or oval piece of granite and place it upon some type of stand.....and voila---a dining table! How do I make a granite dining table?
A friend of mine is a stone-mason specilising in granite, I helped him build a granite kitchen in his house (floor, worktops, sink etc - not the cupbaords themselves).

You can order granite pieces made to your specifications in whatever shape you want. In some cases you may be able to go to the quarry and choose the piece of raw material that will be worked for you.

I'd suggest contacting a local monumental mason (gravestone maker) as they'll often do bespoke pieces and if not they should be able to point you in the right direction.

Like glass, granite is brittle and if you drop something heavy on a thin piece it will shatter. For that reason a piece the size of a dining table will need to be quite thick. either that or it's going to need a lot of supports underneath or it's going to have to be a sheet of granite laid on top of a more conventional wooden table.

You can have your granite table top carved if you wish so you could have some decoration around the edges or whatever takes your fancy. How do I make a granite dining table?
I would think that any stone counter-top company could custom make you a table top to your specs. I would recomend that they predrill holles in the bottom for anchors to your base, and make sure the table weight won't damage your floor. Thats a lot of weight to concentrate onto four points on the floor. Counter tops will distribute the weight over a wider area.
There are two types of granites regarding the thickness of it: 3cm (1'; 1/4) and 2cm (3/4';). Most counter-top fabricators use 3 cm because it's more durable. Any fabricator can make you granite base ( either one big rectangle or two small legs) and it would help prevent damage to your flooring.

How to repair scratches in painted black table?

I bought a painted black dining room table last year and before I could purchase a glass top for it, the paint has been scratched / flaked in several places. I REALLY don't want to sand and repaint the whole table! What kind of paint can I use to repair the damaged areas that will blend in and last? I will then cover it with glass. How to repair scratches in painted black table?
I had the same problem until I was told of an easy and cheap way to fix it and it worked ! I used some Linseed oil on a cloth and give it a good rub saturate the cloth with it and wipe let it sit for a few hours or overnight and the next day wipe with a dry cloth .

  • How to stop a newly adopted cat from jumping on kitchen table?

I just adopted my new cat Ben. He's a very sweet cat who has adjusted VERY well to his new surroundings. He doesn't hide and is as sweet as can be. The only problem is his bad habit of jumping on the kitchen table and sitting/ laying down on it. His old owners didnt mind but I have a big problem with kitty-feet where I place and eat my food.

Q: should I address this issue now or wait until he is here longer. Also HOW can i re train him to not jump on it anymore. He is 14 months. How to stop a newly adopted cat from jumping on kitchen table?
Address it now! He's in your home, so he needs to know your rules. A safe, harmless option is a good squirt bottle with it switched to the high-power stream. When he gets up on the table, create a commotion! Have the bottle handy (always filled with plain H2O), squirt him and yell no! The yelling isn't so much because I expect him to learn ';no';, but more to create an unsettling event that he doesn't like. After this is repeated a number of times, jumping on the table is associated with getting wet and yelled at.

My other advice is to provide him with a new place to lay, like an enclosed kitty cube, to provide him with a cubby-hole all his own :)How to stop a newly adopted cat from jumping on kitchen table?
i'd say kick the habit asap. he may have just newly arrived but the sooner you start teaching him, the easier it'll be. also, 14 months is not old, which is good.

fill up a water bottle with a spray nozzle and spray him everytime he jumps up onto the table. be sure to spray just as he gets on top, not when he's already resting on it so that he gets it
I found that my cats have all learnt not to jump on tables and benchs just by me lifting them off straight away and making a disapproving noise. It works all the time now if my cat goes to do something that is naughty such as attack the dog or chase birds, I just make the noise and he stops.
Go to Wal-Mart and buy a couple of water pistols. Have them around so you can take immediate action. Once you squirt him enough he will associate the table with getting wet which ben won't like.
Add a lil vinegar to water, and give him a squirt w/spray bottle, % and you';; be in control!
or1088 gave the best advice. The squirt bottle will work for many bad behavour problems.
Spray bottle with water in it. Every time he does something that you don't what him doing, squirt, squirt.
I agree, my cat is 16 years old. We trained him as a kitten with a little squirt gun (in the shape of a seahorse! haha!) just plain H2O does the trick. To this day, if I place him on the table or another area he is not allowed he runs right away! He never jumps on the tables/counters/kitchen chairs, etc. Just a few quick squirts of water will do and make sure you don't continue to squirt your cat after they've jumped down or away from where you want as this will confuse them. Only use the water while they are commiting the crime!

I also used a sound when he got squirted; it sounds kinds like ';pssst!'; you know, when you're trying to get someone's attention? Only really short and loud. When he's doing something wrong or heading towards an area I don't want him in, that works now even without the water. ';No'; is quite effective too, I find that it takes a little longer to teach a cat ';no'; and saying it in a commanding/low/deep tone works better than yelling... Eventually you won't even need the water if you include a command or sound with your training.

Cats are NOT impossible to train whatever method you choose, keep at it! (I taught my cat how to ';sit'; years and years ago, he still does it!)

Does a welding table get hot when its being welded on?

I need to design a welding table for shops class but i don't know how hot the table gets when its being welded on. Also will a part of the table that's not close to the area that's being welded on, will it get hot? Like the legs or something.Does a welding table get hot when its being welded on?
The table will only get hot but only a small area were the workpiece is on such as a T fillet so say you was welding a T fillet 150mm long the only area to get warm is around that. so if u are welding to steel Lade on the bench that bit off the bench will get warm on the surface off the table not the legs. But also depends the Amps you are using. the steel surface for the table needs to be about 6mm. Also every so often the bench will need grinding down were weld has stuck to the table such as if learners strike the table insted off the workpice. You are best making the table out off angle steel %26amp; 6mm plate for table top. :o)Does a welding table get hot when its being welded on?
    I second Ashley's comments.

Incidentally, there's a new wiki for welding sponsored by the Gases and Welding Distributors Association at http://www.gawdawiki.org/gwiki/index.php鈥?/a> and http://www.gawdawiki.org/. The first address is for an interactive wiki of welding and industrial gases terms. It has a lot of information you and your class may find useful.

How do you get vomit smell out of a coffee table?

Had some friends over, did some drinking, woke up to a pool of vomit on the coffee table. I scrubbed it a few times with various cleaning products, but it still has a lingering smell. What's the best method for knocking out the odor? How do you get vomit smell out of a coffee table?
Since all you've done already didn't help, Throw it to the curb and get another one...How do you get vomit smell out of a coffee table?
    Clean it once in awhile.
I would bleach it ( and your friends too ) haha. Or throw it out. Make your friends sleep in the bath-tub from now on. :P
Its tough if you,ve already used other products on it. Try a pet stain and odor remover on it and leave it out in the sun for a few days or as long as you can Sunlight will kill most bacteria
If it's able to be aired outside, that would help.

I believe pet odor remover products have a warning that it is harmful to varnishes.

Is the varnish ruined? It is possible that it has been.

    I suggest first to try:

Powder a 1/4 inch layer of baking soda on it and let it sit overnight. Wash with warm, soapy water.

White distilled vinegar would be next.

How to train a dog from takeing food from the table and trash?

I have a 3-4 years old JRT and when i leave my house he gets in to the trash. I come home and its every where. Even when i go to the bathroom and my food is on the table he will grab it and eat it. He gets plenty of food in his bowl. He knows what he did but yet he dose it again and again. I've tried yelling with a stern voice and face and sending him to is bed but he still dose it. What should i do?How to train a dog from takeing food from the table and trash?
put the trash in a room the dog does not have access to - simple and effective. Or consider a crate.

stealing your food is BAD he thinks he's dominant over you. try leaving a plate of tuna sandwiches on the floor while you watch TV - everytime he goes near the food or even looks at it sya NO or make an ACK ACK noise dissapprovingly, keep working on it - he needs to learn that your food is off limits - always! - it can be done - my terriers will leave food on 'humans' plates even if it's left on the floor while I leave the room.

I have read that booby trapping some food can help - like make a piece of bread FULL of strong mustard and leave that around! but I don't think dogs are that dumb- I've not tried it - my other training methods worked! Good Luck!!How to train a dog from takeing food from the table and trash?
    steal his food
Counter surfing is self reinforcing the reward he's getting may trump any punishment. Think about the rat who has learned that every time it hits a lever, a pellet drops. Now, take away the pellets. Does the rat hit the lever once or twice than walk away? No, the behavior actually increases initially. It is called an extinction burst and can be very frustrating if you don't know what is happening. A previously reinforced behavior is no longer paying off. This is why people kick soda machines.

Get a 4' dog lead and use that on your dog's collar (regular buckle collar only, never a choke collar). Basically you and the dog go hang out in the kitchen. Make sure you are always standing on the end of the lead. When your dog jumps up and hits the end of the lead and sits back down, praise and treat (click and reward if your dog is clicker trained). Only praise and treat when the dog is down. The idea is to reward not jumping on the counter and just sitting at your feet or laying down. Eventually, with consistency, the dog will have a longer interval in between attempts to jump up on the counter. If the dog gets bored and lays down, praise and treat that. Eventually your dog will come to learn that it's more rewarding to lay down than jump up. The goal though is to interrupt or redirect the behavior to something more favorable to the dog. You might get out some very tasty treats when they're sitting on the floor, away from the counter. Since I use drive to train, I would invite the dog to play tug, or have a handful of treats, and get the dog to ';push'; into me to get them. This gets them used to the feeling of coming to me to satisfy their drive-- not the counter.

You have to be consistent. If you are looking for an easy fix try double sided sticky tape placed on the edge of the counter. Dogs hate this, but it may not work.
    He is still hungry !!

Your not feeding him enough !!

Filling his bowl up with what ever it is you feed him isn't filling him up......It's that simply !!

You've got to feed him more food.....Give him the left over food from the trash.....Before ...you put it in the trash

He's trying to let you know ......Yelling at him in a stern voice isn't helping him at all.......You are yelling at him for still being hungry !!

If you will start feeding him more food.....until he finally turns around and walks away from his food bowl.....With food still in it......You'll know He is finally full !!

When you start doing that.....He want get into the trash any more......And, away from your food !!

A lot of dogs eat more than just once a day.....Soooo, while your gone....make sure He has plenty of food in his bowl....Extra food

I don't know what you feed him.....Soooo, I'm guessing dog food........If it is ...He needs something more to go with it

When you start feeding him more.....He will stop getting into the trash and will stay out of your food !!

It shouldn't take a couple of days for him to not get into the trash at all.........But, if you don't start feeding him enough it will never stop....
i learned a long time ago when i first got great danes.....counter height to begin with - trash container HAD to have a lid, locking if possible or put in the kitchen closet. and no food left unguarded or uncovered on a table. you have dogs - you have to adjust or loose it. counter surfing for some danes is normal behavior! it's easiest on everyone to just remove the temptation!! there is one trick you can try and i've used it with success, a new clean mouse trap set on the counter for the ';counter surfers'; (old dog trainer tought me this) it is a definite deterrent - they're cheap and i buy them just for that purpose. and they won't hurt your dog - just scare him. it just depends on how hard-headed he is. a jack russell terrorist can be pretty hard-headed :)
sorry to just jump on a thread, but Snow, if you read this, you don't know anything about dogs and should not respond to any other dog-related questions, no matter how smart you think you are. Dogs are like kids, in the sense that they will want your food even if they aren't hungry. I want to agree with most of the other replies to this question, especially because learning a bit of psychology is wonderful since it can apply to people and dogs. I don't know about mouse traps though, if a dog set one off his jowls or ears could get snapped in it and that would be painful and traumatic. Talking sternly to or yelling (which is not helpful) at a dog will do no good, because unless it is done immediately after the bad behavior, they won't know what they did wrong, even if you point it out or (heaven forbid) rub their nose in it. You have to reinforce good behavior with rewards (small treats or praise), which is easier to learn than punishment (negative reinforcement) for bad behavior. Table scraps are ok for dogs anyway, as long as they are given at the end of a meal, and only as a reward for not begging or drooling and staring at the food the entire time. If you can't lock your trash up or put it somewhere that he can't get to, which is usually an inconvenience, you might want to try a baby gate on the doorways. When your dog tries to get near your food, go ';AH AH!'; quickly and loudly and stare him in the eyes. It is a bit jarring to the dog and is simple to understand, and it lets him know that you are the one in control (the alpha dog). When he backs away say something like, ';good boy!'; Also, watch that show on Animal Planet, called ';It's Me or the Dog,'; because the lady on there who trains dogs really knows what she's talking about. I have dogs and am strict with them, but also very fun and loving, and they are pretty well behaved and happy. The important things to remember are just to be patient and consistent. I really hope this helps! Good luck! =)

How to sort table of numbers in ascending way in excel?

I want to sort the data while it is in table of 9 rows and 6 columns.

Can I sort it like this or i have to arrange the data inn one column? How to sort table of numbers in ascending way in excel?
I think it is as simple as left clicking the column you want to sort and click on the assort button on the task bar (its and A and a Z with an arrow next to it)

Each column has its own properties you can adjust but at the end of the day if you want your data laid out a very specific way you can always enter it that way from the beginning. A large part of building a good spreadsheet is getting the design right :)How to sort table of numbers in ascending way in excel?
You highlight the data set of 9 rows and 6 columns. Then click Data, Sort. You will be asked for the column which contains the column which contains the sort order data. When you press OK, the data will be sorted.
Follow the advice from Jerome, but beware the only data sorted is that highlighted, so if your data in rows is organised by say date it will get jumbled.

How to prevent cell heights from changing when a table is added in Dreamweaver?

I'm designing a new web page but am having troubles keeping my navigation bar from changing it's height dimensions when I add a table in the content area to the left. The entire page is basically a table split down the middle to make a navigation bar to the left, and then an area for written content to the right. The navigation bar is one cell that has been split into 6 cells, every time I add a table to the content area, the 6 cells expand to the length of the page, even in the browser preview. How to prevent cell heights from changing when a table is added in Dreamweaver?
    1) Stop using tables for layout. Tables are used to display tabular data. Layouts are done in style sheets.

    2) If you insist on using tab;es, use absolute sizes.

    2) Stop using Dreamweaver. How to prevent cell heights from changing when a table is added in Dreamweaver?
the problems you are having here is one reason why CSS was developed - but it does take a little bit to learn. just be aware that soon you will be as a web designer.

as for your answer, that's just how tables work. if you put in the heights manually, you can override that, just be sure all of your math is correct - the numbers will have to add up exactly to the total height of the table as specified in the opening tag.

another option (a bad solution, but a solution nonetheless) would be to create an entirely new table *inside* that table, which will seperate it from the other one so it will not be affected when you add things to cells in the other table.

but seriously: using tables for page layout is unprofessional, very bad for search engines to find, very difficult to maintain (as you can see) and -obsolete-!

How do I remove the laminate top from my wooden table?

The table underneath the laminate is solid wood, but the laminate looks like crap! I want to remove the laminate and then stain the wood underneath. What is the best way to remove this laminate? How do I remove the laminate top from my wooden table?
The wood underneath may be wood, but do you know if it is stain grade? It might not be what you think. And I suspect there is a good chance that it is not something worth refinishing. (Were it good wood, it wouldn't have been laminated in the first place.) Not that it matters much -- you will have an impossible time getting the laminate off.

It might be time to buy a new table. How do I remove the laminate top from my wooden table?
I'm sorry to say, according to Murphy's law, laminate only comes off when you don't want it to. If you want it to, it won't come off with a chain saw.

  • How do I remove black paint from an antique kitchen table?

I found an otherwise nice kitchen table and six chairs at an estate sale for $60. The problem...they painted it in an unknown type of black paint. Do I need to know what type of paint it is before starting the refinishing process? How do I find that out?How do I remove black paint from an antique kitchen table?
Had a shop when I came across esp black paint I would always get the client to sign off on the possibility that though I could remove the paint there might be noticeable residue.

Not all bad.......esp if it is an older hardwood set %26amp; originally had a clear finish which helps release the paint.

Does not matter what kind of paint it is.

One of the heavy paste strippers would be best since it does not ';melt ';the paint %26amp; takes it off in relatively dry patches that can be lifted off rather than scraped %26amp; scrubbed which generally makes things worse.

OK to use a gel ,liquid stripper or mineral spirits , fine steel or bronze wool %26amp; plenty of rags as a ';cleanup'; ..

When any paint residue gets into bare wood , ';its in there'; %26amp; getting it out entirely without damaging the wood is almost impossible even w/ commercial strippers.

Trying to ';sand'; it out will make things worse %26amp; if you intend to stain %26amp; use a natural finish will look uneven.

Finishing is a whole other story.

Might look for tinted finishes in spraycans that will allow for

feathering over uneven color if you do end up w/ blemished surfaces.

Best regardsHow do I remove black paint from an antique kitchen table?
No! I would just use any ole' stripper to get started. You never know what will be under the paint as well. Just get some paint stripper and a bag of coarse steel wool and fine steel wool as well as a putty knife. I might start on a chair just in case you find out the wood has been stained purple underneath or something. Stain is a whole different ball game.

How to keep teenager entertained on the kids christmas table?

Hi! I'm hosting the big family Christmas this year and as normal the oldest of the children will want to sit on the adults table. Shes pulled the I'm older than everyone else card for three years now and all the cousin are all one year between each other and her as well eg 1,2,3 . The older three have cousins that are allot younger but there isn't enough room on the table so i need to get them to want to sit on the 'kids' table how can i do this please help!!!!How to keep teenager entertained on the kids christmas table?
Aww let her sit with the adults why not? Would it really be the end of the world to allow her to sit with you?,Especially if she's been asking for 3 years whats the big deal ?It'll be Christmas a time for peace and goodwill think about it ?How to keep teenager entertained on the kids christmas table?
Can't you join the tables together?
tell them it's only a dinner, which lasts.. an hour, maybe?
Good luck with that. Bribe her with a new phone, fully loaded. They always fall for that one.
I think its wrong to sit a teenager on the kids table shuffle everyone around and squeeze in one more chair or add another table to the end of the adults table and mix and match and be a family.why make one person so miserable on Christmas day
get some non sugar candy. and get a table cloth made of paper and throw some crayons on the table as well and tada they are entertained.
Just have one table. I hated having a kids table. I always felt left out and all the kids where mean to me. If you are all at the same table you can keep and eye on them.
She won't like that, but how old is she? I remember being sat at the kids table when I was about 13, and my brother and older cousin (aged 14 and 15) were with the adults, and I was left to babysit the little ones (the oldest is 8 years younger than me) so I was not impressed, it really ruined the whole day because I was always stuck babysitting.

Kids tables are never a good idea, in my opinion, because parents will ignore their childs behaviour so long as the teenagers are there, and the older ones will have to do all the cutting up of food and getting them to eat properly, and they won't enjoy it. Either put everyone together, or the three eldest in with the adults, or have three tables, or even have two tables where it's half adults - half kids on each.
Well, really I think she should just do as she's told and deal with it. But, since Christmas is supposed to be fun for everyone, it's nice of you to think of her. Maybe you could decorate the kids' table all cool with place cards stating their name in pretty writing and a different piece of candy or little ';treasure'; for each of them. You could make it sparkly and do a candy cane theme, or throw some confetti on the table. That would make anyone be at least a little interested.. :)

As one of the oldest of my group of cousins, I understand that sitting at the kids' table can sometimes feel like babysitting. But try to encourage her and tell her it's a fun chance for her to spend time with the rest of her cousins. Call it the ';cousins table'; instead of the kids table, if all the cousins are going to sit there. And make sure all the parents are helping out their own children and cutting their kids' food before they sit down themselves so that the oldest child won't be responsible for all of that. They should just all have a nice time together. Make sure she can be with the adults throughout the rest of the night!

Edit: people don't seem to understand the space situation and how difficult that can be. If you've got a big family like mine, it is IMPOSSIBLE to get everybody sitting together at one table. I think, for an hour or so, it's okay to have people separated. Everyone can intermingle at any other time.

Plus, if you put one kid at the adult table, a bunch of other kids are going to want to sit there and be ';big kids'; too. It just doesn't work out well. It's not like the oldest is the oldest by a huge margin, as you said. She will have other kids close to her age that she can talk with.

Good luck figuring this all out! Merry (early) Christmas!
Why 2 tables join them together or if you haven't the room mix and match adults and children its her xmas as well as everybody elses I don't understand why you have to have them separately however many we are we squash up (my table seats 10 at a push) or fetch in the garden furniture and put it all together somehow its not about how it looks its about everyone sitting together and enjoying.
Once they become teenagers the kids table should be over with!!! It's basically forcing the older ones to babysit the little kids and then they have the miserable dinner experience.

It's much better to keep everyone together, but....If you have several teens then have a TEEN TABLE as well.
If they're mature enough they can understand, maybe offer to pay them to babysit the other kids?
Why don't you get three long tables and decorate them Christmasy and then have people pick thier own seats where they want to sit. This way families can eat together. This is why my sister has a buffet styled meal because we spread out throughout her house. The dinning room, the kitchen and the living rooms.

However, if you want the whole family and some friends to eat together in one room. Have three or so tables so people can choose where to sit. Just take away the kids tables. The kids tables were created for those adults that don't want to handle thier children or offend anyone that don't like children at the table. My 10 year old niece eats with the adults buy the way. When I was growing up I sat with my parents and my Aunts and uncles. I never had a kids table. I never wanted one. They asked me if I wanted one a few times I said no I want to eat with you. If you ask your children they would want to eat with thier families.

By purpose i mean like what is does, how the way it should be used effects the height it should be made at. (for both table and floor lamps)

so for example is it that a table lamp shouldn't be very tall as they are only used to see certain areas whereas a floor lamp is much higher because the light needs to spread out across further. - Is that right?

How do you suggest i should write it? What is the purpose of a table lamp and floor lamps?
A table lamp is there to provide local lighting, sometimes for ambience like a generic decorative lamp but usually to help visually acuity in doing an activity, such as writing, reading or drawing. As they only need to illuminate the immediate area they do not need to be big and only really need to be carefully designed around the reflector to ensure the light diffuses correctly for the purpose.

Tall lamps are more usually designed for ambient lighting. Hence their form is more important, as these types usually have very open reflectors/shades to help diffuse softer, less focused light over a greater spread.

Hope that helpsWhat is the purpose of a table lamp and floor lamps?
A table lamp should not be too tall as it is mainly to supply light for reading. The proportions, materials and colours it's made from should fit with the rest of the furniture in the room. Bedside lamps are often shorter still, sometimes used with a shade with a diffuser - if you're lying down or reading in bed, you don't want to be blinded by seeing a bare lightbulb.

Floor lamps are used to light up more of the room, although the shade design and wattage of lightbulb can render the light more atmospheric, rather than with the function of a primary light source.
Table lamps have a purpose. They supply light to the area that you are sitting to read, watch TV or can just light up the room. The height and look should complement the size of your furniture. Most floor lamps in my opinion are more for looks as they can look nice up really don't supply a lot of light unless you use a 250 watt bulb. The light shoots upward giving a higher area lighting but won't work for reading or real comfort. I have stayed away from table lamps these past few years but changed my mind last night. I have a family room/kitchen. The fan lights did not illuminate the kitchen area enough to allow me to change the overhead lighting. So now I just hope when I get home tonight there is enough natural light to change them.
Table lamps and floor lamps are area lighting. A table lamp should not be so tall that when you sit, you see the lightbulb.

A floor lamp is used to spread light upwards. A table lamp is used as accent lighting.

Write it how you want to... I imagine this is for your homework...
well a table lamp needs to be short so the light is concentrated more on the table and so it doesn't shine in your eyes when you're sitting at the table and a floor light needs to throw light over the whole room to light it up =]

a table lamp is for use when there is a table present. Floor lamp are use when there is no furniture to put a lamp on. Both can also be used just for their own aesthetic values.
Usually it's extra lighting for reading or just a decorative accent.
I think their height varies just for decoration, and space convenience.
Just area lighting for each member of the family or looks.....high low..for reading.......or whatever you heart desires. Instead of lighting the whole room.......your just high lighting areas
I think the height is there because a desk lamp needs to be short, space availability..
Yes. They are also used to add different levels of light to a room.

How do I write an exponential model using a given table of values?

I have a table of values telling the Swan Population in Michigan for certain years. I've checked the first and second differences, neither of which are constant and I'm not sure where to go from there. Also, the years do not have a constant difference either.

    The values are:

    1987=4

    1990=10

    1991=45

    1996=140

    1999=285

    2000=400

    2003=565

I need to predict what the number will be in 2012.How do I write an exponential model using a given table of values?
When you suspect that your data may be exponential, a semilog plot is a powerful tool for evaluating the data. Plot ln(Y) versus X. If the data are exponential, the points on the plot will appear to be linear.

I made a semilog plot of your data and found that the points from 1991 to 2003 are fairly linear. The points for 1987 and 1990 appear to be from a different population, so I omitted them from the linear regression.

Excel's linear regression gave this model:

    ln(Y) = -432.2264668 + 0.219027072X

where Y is the swan population and X is the year. Plugging in X = 2012 gives

    ln(Y) = -432.2264668 + 0.219027072(2012)

    = 8.456001291

    Hence, Y = e^8.456001291 = 4703.213565

So the predicted vale for 2012 is 4703.

in your SQL query, use the mysql function curdate()

    example:

INSERT INTO table (column, date, column) VALUES ('value', curdate(), 'value')
First, don't use ';timestamp';: that is UNIX time stamp: the number of seconds since January 1 1970 00:00:00 GMT

Set the column variable as ';datetime'; type with the default value 0000-00-00 00:00:00 (for a format YYYY:MM:DD HH:MM:SS), and call this column ';datum'; (don't use ';date';, ';datetime'; or ';timestamp';!: reserved words)

Advantage of this format: easy sorting!

    When inserting, use:

    $datum = date ( ';Y-m-d H:i:s';);

This will get current time and date, correctly formatted.

    Your sql:

    $sql = ';insert into `tablename` (`field1`,`field2`,`datum`)

    values (' '; . $f1val . '; ' , ' '; . $f2val . '; ' , ' '; . $datum . '; ' ) ';;

The ring is caused by water that seeps through the finish and doesn't evaporate. Try rubbing alcohol over the area and let it stand. It evaporates faster than water. When it mixes with the water, it will hasten the evaporation. If one application doesn't do it, add it again. It should eventually evaporate the water.

    thanks
First you need a perscription from your doctor for them to even consider it. If they do not you can declare it on your income taxes when you have them done. Also read over your insurance policy. Many insurances will not pay for any medical device like hearing aides, inversion tables etc. If you do not know, call your insurance and ask. Tell them you have a doctors perscription for one.
It sounds like your plan won't cover the table because its experimental... Not, because they're being tight... You can write a letter of appeal to your insurance company, %26amp; include a statement of medical necessity from your doctor. This MAY get the item covered... Probably not, but maybe. Don't just write a letter asking them to pay for table. You letter will need to address the experimental aspect of the inversion table. (i.e., include literature %26amp; information stating why you feel is shouldn't be considered experimental.) Good Luck

Would like to know the proceedings on how to restain/revarnish our mahogany round wooden kitchen table. Step by step and the products to use would really help? How do you restain/revarnish a mahogany wooden round kitchen table?
    1. remove the varnish or plastic coat. Use paint or varnish remover. There are non-toxic types today and are safe to breath or have children around.

2: sand down with 220 grit with palm sander. Do not try to remove the old stain. Take your time not to make holes or round off the edges too much. Sand enough to make it smooth with your hand. Hand sand all the edges. Any holes or cracks... you can fill using the saw dust from the sanding and mix it with yellow glue and rub it in with your finger. Then a wet paper towel and wipe off the clue or the stain will not stick. You never tell the difference.

3: Get Miniwax Mahogany stain. And foam brushes.

4: follow the instructions on the can. Use tack clothes to remove the dust

5: Apply even coats and keep it wet and use a rag to feather the color from dry to wet area. Let the rag give you the color and texture you like. Do a section at a time and take your time, because the stain dries fast. Follow the grain. Do not let it dry before you have it feathered or it will cake up and have to start all over again. You have to be an artist and create painting.

materials, fabric or other for the table top? Very old and rusted, table top needs to be replaced... would like to use as an outdoor summer dining table,,,,, refinish to look nice and re-surface top to be durable for rain and morning dew.... THanks soooo much. How do I go about refinishing a wrought iron table and chairs? Also, any suggestions for outdoor-proof?
Taka a wire brush and remove all loose, peeled paint and rust. This takes patience if your table is very fancy. Then wipe the whole thing off with a cotton cloth dampened with turpentine, or vinegar.

No paint will stick to a greasy or wet surface. First coat should be a ';metal primer'; or ';rust retardant'; type paint. Second coat can be of enamel or paint suitable for place item is to be used, usually outdoor enamel. Sometimes you can find all-in-one paints that are sufficient without using a base coat. This is usually cheaper in the long run and easier since you don't have to paint it twice. Look for Rustoleum or True Value's XO-Rust paint brands. When the paint is completely dry (a couple days) apply protective finish as if item were new.

Even small chips or scratches should be touched up immediately with primer followed by matching paint to prevent rust forming. If you're keeping this outdoors where it's exposed to rain, etc. you should invest in a nylon cover or bring it in when it's not in use.

Good luck! ;-)How do I go about refinishing a wrought iron table and chairs? Also, any suggestions for outdoor-proof?
How about a thick piece of glass for the table top (e.g. 1/4';) -- something rated for outdoor use? We have a wrought iron table with a glass top; it's round and and we leave it outside and uncovered from spring until late fall. Wipe with a paper towel and window cleaner before use and it's good to go. That same piece of glass has been around for some 40 years -- it's got some fine scratches but that's the only sign of wear.

As for the paint we got good results with Benjamin Moore enamel for metal surfaces. The previous responder is right about the preparation and priming, etc.
Best and most efficient means of cleaning it up would be to have it sandblasted. This would remove all of the corrosion and leave the appropiate surface to apply a finish that would be longer lasting.

There are several finish choices that could be applied, I would suggest something in an epoxy. You typically get a better bond and more durable coat.

As far as the top, I would also go with the glass. 1/4 inch or more.

What is the composition of the existing top?
I redid my furniture last year. Use a rust preventive paint on the metal and then coat with an exterior topcoat. Having the primer and then topcoat combination will provide you with the longest lasting solution.

Here is a good Rust Preventive Paint: http://www.kbs-coatings.com/Rust-Sealer-鈥?/a>

How can I combine a dining table and bookcase into one piece of furniture?

I'm making a dining table for friends and at one side of the table, I would like to make a bookcase between the legs. I have once seen a picture of a similar design but have lost it. Now, I'm looking for pictures or drawings to get inspiration and ideas on how to design it.How can I combine a dining table and bookcase into one piece of furniture?
The only way I could picture that is if each of the 4 legs of the table were made of two pieces of wood, secured together at a 90 degree angle (sorry I don't know the best way to word this) and in the space produced by the two pieces that make each ';leg';, you put shelves in there and place books running up and down each corner, facing out, while the little shelves double as legs. How can I combine a dining table and bookcase into one piece of furniture?
sounds awkward, breaking my brain trying to envision,
I would think the leg style would be the most difficult part to integrate into the book case. I can think of two ways to pull this off having never seen one personally.

I have changed my mind. I can offer only one way. The other would be nearly impossible for the novice. I would detach the legs from one end of the table and place the legless table top on the bookcase or with L brackets, attach the table top to the rear of the bookcase.
    Great idea! Double utility!

How to do this depends on how the table is set in the room, and whether or not you need someone to be able to sit at the end.

Assuming you want people to be able to sit at any edge, then only the corners/legs can have bookshelves. One way is to build 4 narrow bookshelves the correct height of a table..and then put a board or something over the four book cases, angled they intersect in the middle pointing at each other.. wouldlook like an octagon with the bookshelf width being shorter, and the seating flat wider.

the other option is easier.. you just don't have one or both ends ';sittable.'; you Just build bookcases at the end(s). and put a table surface on that. alternatively but in a similar way, find a table you like, with square wood legs without taper if possible.. and then frame in those exisiting wood legs with a back and front rib, shelves, and back. and whing bang boom you are done.

the only other way to do this would be a table at a wall, and a shelf on the way at back of table.

    T
Make four small bookcases 12 inches wide by 12 inches deep by 33 inches tall. That would be the legs. then put a big sheet of the material ( Plywood, Plastic, etc.) to be the table top and attach .
i would make the table and then make the bookcase as a stand alone system on casters so that if they had more people at the table they could move it out of the way while they ate then move it back after
I am not certain what you saw before, but you can put a book case as a carousel on each leg. The legs can be about 12x12, then the height of the leg of course, place a swivel base on the bottom and the top of each of the legs. The four legs will not make the table swivel, since they are all technically working off of a dead center basis.
Make block style legs 4X4 or 6x6, depending how deep you want the bookshelf, then make the book shelf to fit in between the legs on each end, but keep in mind you also want to have enough leg room, so it will be tricky.

Is there a table to figure out payroll tax withholding percentages?

I am only looking for federal tax witholding information. Is there a tax table that shows the percentage witheld for biweekly income? I'm married, and I only claim 2... but I would like to have a variety of claims to compare what is witheld.

Social Security Tax % witheld based on income?

Medicare Tax % witheld based on income?

Federal Tax % witheld based on income?

I want to be able to look at the chart, and figure out how much will be taken, exactly, every paycheck that I receive.

Thanks. Is there a table to figure out payroll tax withholding percentages?
For federal tax withholding, use Publication 15: http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/p15.pdf

If you read pages 36 - 39, you'll be able to calculate your federal tax withholding exactly.

Social security tax is 6.2% of gross compensation up to a limit of $102,000 of compensation

Medicare tax is is 1.45% of wages with no limit.

    =====

I've got an Excel spreadsheet set up to do the same thing. I can enter each gross paycheck amount, the spreadsheet does the calculation, and I can forcast what my various withholdings are. That way, I can be sure whether my taxes paid for the year will cover my taxes due when I file.Is there a table to figure out payroll tax withholding percentages?

What is the best way to re-finish/stain a cherry wood coffee table?

It is a round cherry wood coffee table from Ethan Allen from probably the 70s but is a beautiful piece. It has white marks on the top of it from putting hot drinks/plates on it. How do I get these marks off, or re-stain the table? Thanks. What is the best way to re-finish/stain a cherry wood coffee table?
Ethan Allen - my house is full of 1970s Ethan Allen. It is about the best furniture made.

The table is laquered and laquer can be reconstituted, as can shellac. You might try to get all of the wax and pledge off it by using mineral spirits. It all has to be off. If the top is in otherwise good condition, you might can spray some clear laquer thinner on it with a small amount of retardant. The white spots are water spots most likely. If that does not make them disappear, and the damage is purely on the top, mask off the table from teh top down using that aluminum tape and vinyl drop cloth material and strip the top using a paste stripper. You will need to duplicate the color. I have bought Ethan Allen's stains directly from them, but they might send you a spray can and you don't want that. Their stains are made, or were made by, Mohawk and if you get in touch with them, they might can sell you something like the original. This is not fun, you have to have good color vision to make sure that two colors match, then once you have that repaired, spray a coat of sealer on it, lightly sand that, and then put on about 6-10 coats of laquer (sprayed) and either polish it out or if it is satin sheen, work it to where you want it with 0000 steel wool. I do this all the time. What is the best way to re-finish/stain a cherry wood coffee table?
There are different types of surface conditioners available at your local hardware store. However your problem may require refinishing table to help.

You need to sand down past the stain which may prove difficult itself depending on the condition of the surface to begin with.

If you don't sand past the stain and you re-stain table it will show up even more do to the stain.

Quickest solution would be to place a accentuating table cloth over marks.
If you are serious about refinishing it, I will forwarn you that it takes time and elbow grease. First, use sand paper to remove the clear finish, either a varnish or most likely due to the water/heat marks, a lauqer finish, Then to ';cheat'; a little, apply a sanding sealer, sand smooth{since it is a parifin sealer, it is quite easy to sand} and then apply your new finish. If you get to heavy handed during the first sanding and get into the original stain, then you will have to strip it completely and restain, sand, revarnish. Good luck, and how about using coasters after you get it redone?
First, try a product called restor-a-finish. It worked well for me. I bought it in woodcrafters in North Carolina.

If this doesn't work, lightly sand entire surface, so that the wood absorbs evenly. If you sand just the spot, it won't look good. Find a cherry stain(good luck) that will match. From my experience you will have to test several colors. You might find a color that will work, but does not have ';cheery'; in its name. I might suggest a wiping stain, as you have more time to test/play to achieve the right color. Make sure you use a stain only, by itself; not, a combination of stain and urethane.
To remove the water marks place some mayonnaise on the spots and cover for about 15-20 min. Then wipe it off. Put some wipe on poly urethane or past wax on it after to protect it. If you do have to sand it down use a fine grit paper like 100. Then go finer like 150-220. Cherry darkens with age and is often left un stained. You can leave it in the sun outside for a couple of days and it will start the darkening. Then just poly the top and your done.

How come my homemade rolled fondant always sticks to my table?

Every time I make homemade fondant it sticks to the table! I've made a few different recipes, including the marshmellow one. I've used icing sugar, corn starch, shortening, as well as shortening and icing sugar! Please help because I continue to buy the ready-made fondant and it's expensive! How come my homemade rolled fondant always sticks to my table?
In addition to 2001 comment, remember to grease the table before you spread the powder sugar. Also lift and replace fondant often and make sure there is always enough powdered sugar. Again Good Luck!!How come my homemade rolled fondant always sticks to my table?
to prevent this from happening you could use a sheet of parchment paper under the fondant this will help you lift it off easier and keep your table clean.

How do you determine the charges of an element without looking at the periodic table?

Like for example, I have Cr. Without looking at the table, how can I know what the charge is on it?

DON'T JUST TELL ME THE NUMBER, TELL ME HOW TO FIND IT WITHOUT USING THE TABLE.How do you determine the charges of an element without looking at the periodic table?
    Group 1 all have +1

    Group 2 all have +2

    Oxygen's group has -2

    Florine's group has -1

Aluminum has +3How do you determine the charges of an element without looking at the periodic table?
Know the charge of the molecule it is bonded to, and subtract that from 8.
Other than memorizing the properties, there is no way. That is why the periodic table is so valuable.
It's just something you have to learn by heart, unfortunately. Once you become more familiar with the elements, you'll be able to remember the charges of the ones that come up most often in your field.

You can however deduce the charge of an atom if you know the charges of other atoms in a molecule, and if you know the charge of the molecule itself. For example, if you have H2O, and you know Oxygen ion has two unpaired electrons giving it a charge of -2, in order for water to have no charge each Hydrogen must have a charge of +1 to balance the molecule. Make sense?

Here's another example, suppose you need to know the charge of sodium ion, but can never remember it. You know that salt, NaCl, has no net ionic charge, and you know that all of the halogens have a charge of -1. Chlorine is a halogen (along with flourine, bromine, iodine, etc), so for NaCl to have no net charge, Sodium ion must have a charge of +1.

In regards to Chromium, and all of the other metals, there is no way to know without memorizing them. Metals are troublesome that way.
If you have the number of protons (+) and the number of electrons (-), then you just find the difference. If there are more electrons, the element is negative. If there are more protons, the element is positive.
Other than memorizing it there is not really a way. If you know its position on the table, how many valance electrons it has then that can be helpful. Cr has two oxidation states 2+ and 3+ this is because it can lose its s electrons 1st that is 2+ then it will lose one d electron. As you begin to become more familiar with ways in which d block elements gain stability there are definite patterns.

How do I keep my cat off of the kitchen table?

I've caught her a couple of times and I fuss at her but to no avail. I've also cleaned many hairballs off of my table. Is there some way to get her to stay off? She has places to lay including a pillow on a chair. How do I keep my cat off of the kitchen table?
It's a bit of a hassle, but I've used empty soda cans with all my cats and they've gotten the message quickly. Just set a line up a few inches from the edge where the cat can't really see them, but they'll definitely hit them when they decide to jump.

It scares the crap right out of them to the point I haven't had a cat try more than twice. How do I keep my cat off of the kitchen table?
we got a spray water bottle, if we see him on the table he gets a little squirt :) after a while he get's it!
Use a spray bottle to keep her off the table. It may take a long time but eventually she should get the message.
My cat does the same thing so we got a spray bottle for a week now and he is getting better at it. just spray once and if your cat stays and not run away then spray again but try once my cat goes crazy
push her off of it, that wont hurt her and when she stopps getting on it give her treats, CATS DO LAND ON THEIR FEET!!
try tin foil... like at night cover ur table with it...my cousin does this at her house and it works with her cat!
my cat goes on the table because she smells stuff on it like food. and cats like to lay on hard surfaces that are cool. my cat is always sleeping on the kitchen tiled floor instead of his soft bed!!! but i have a trick instead of spraying her while on the table. spray her anytime u see her. then leave that spraying bottle on the table , so when she is bout to jump, shell look at the bottle and run away because she think it will spray her. trust me this works. i tried i!
The only thing i can think of is when you see her on the table run towards her while yelling get down and maybe even clap your hands loudly. It is hard to keep a cat off the table especially when you said you don't always catch her on it, but that is what i do when i see my cat on the table.
A sharp clap of the hands.Cats do not like loud noises.
if possible, spray bottle would work best. if you catch her on your table, bop her nose(it trains them not to d stuff) and scream and scare them and chase them(it sounds stupid, but it does work very effectively. kitty will forgive you). reward your cat when she rests other places then your table. if all else fails, go to a big name pet store and buy this special spray that keeps cats away. its like the opposite of catnip.
There's really no way to keep her off the table if you can't catch her, unless you get a bottle of some smelly substance (they sell cat-repellent) and spray it all over the table. If you can catch her, bang a paint stick or ruler on the table and get her off. They hate loud noises.
Try putting bubble wrap on the table she will slip and wont be able to get on no more and dont worry you wont have to keep it on forever once she keeps trying multiple times she will get tired and will give up

What's the easiest way to memorize the periodic table?

I have to memorize the first 30 elements in the periodic table, atomic number, name of element and family belongs to.

Any tips on how i could do this. What's the easiest way to memorize the periodic table?
I memmorize them by family, which make remembering the atomic number quite easy. And I think U should make little nickname for each element (which is FAMILIAR to U), then U would be able to remember (^-^)What's the easiest way to memorize the periodic table?
    For names at least, you can make up a little story/rhyme type of thing. So, the first few is H, He, Li, Be, B, and in school we were told ';He,he, little bertie beetle....';

In terms of atomic number it is sequential and it is just plain rote for learning which family it belongs to.
Try drawing the table up on a board or or a canvass etc. and hang it up in your room ... maybe in front of your table. So each time you look up you see it. start by memorizing parts of it. and progress along.

I had a Sri Lankan rhyme which helped me remember it but I guess that wouldn't help ;)

    All the best!
The periodic table is kind of divided in to chunks based on orbitals. So memorize each small chunk.
Memorize by repeating the names of the elements according to their group

    memorize one group each day

    that will make it
make a story using the elements.... in that way memorising is quite fun... it worked for me...
I would suggest using 3x5 index cards and drill yourself on them...it worked for me!

My daughter drew pictures with a permanent marker on my wooden table. Is it possible to get it off?How do I get permanent marker drawings off my varnished table?
To remove a permanent marker stain from wood furniture, there are a few options available. You could try WD-40, non-gel toothpaste, or possibly baby wipes. Also, I′d suggest a bit of alcohol on a white cloth or paper towel, or visiting an office supply store to get a commercial felt pen ink remover. ah hah! - the pitting is on the mirror back right?? ok

that is called ';black rot'; in the industry- it is from the ammonia in windex. everyone loves to clean mirror wit windex but thing is it corrodes and eats away the metal backing that makes it reflect- once this happens there is nothing to do other than replace the mirror

How to make table appear on a text rollover?

    I need HTML help

I want it to make it so that when someone puts their mouse over text, a table appears under it.

Help? How to make table appear on a text rollover?
    One possible option:

    %26lt;p%26gt;%26lt;a onmouseover = ';document.getElementById( 'myDiv' ).style.display = 'block';';%26gt; YOUR TEXT %26lt;/a%26gt;%26lt;/p%26gt;

    %26lt;div id = ';myDiv'; style = ';display:none';%26gt;

    YOUR TABLE HERE

    %26lt;/div%26gt;

    %26lt;p%26gt;YOUR PAGE CONTINUES HERE%26lt;/p%26gt;

With this code, every time you go over YOUR TEST it will show your table. The table will remain in that position all the time, if you want it to disappear you just need to add this small code:

    onmouseout = ';document.getElementById( 'myDiv' ).style.display= 'none';';

to the ';a'; tag (if you want the table to disappear when you roll out the text) or to the ';div'; tag (if you want the table to disappear when you roll out of the table).

And another good thing of this code is that it's XHTML Strict valid and the JavaScript used is standard too.

If you have problems with this code, contact me, I'll be glad to help you.

How do I fix a chip in the corner of a thick glass table top?

The entire table top is in perfect condition except for a couple of chips to the underside of one corner that was damaged when moved. Table top had a value $2500.00 when new. I really like it and would not want to discard it as trash. Please help. How do I fix a chip in the corner of a thick glass table top?
You can purchase a clear epoxy from a stone tool supplier. Use the epoxy and mix it with the catalyst hardening agent. Use a razor blade and fill the chip. This is how all granite/ quartz counter top installer use to fill nicks chips and such on all their damaged counter tops. They only use a tinting agent in the epoxy to match the color. You on the other hand can use it plain( clear). Once dried, depending on your ability to smooth/ fill the surface, the epoxy would become part of the glass.

Or you can take it to a glass shop; they can fill and polish it out sort of like fixing windshield on a vehicle.

i hear mayonaise works, just simply rub it in.
If it is a good quality table of pre-1930 manufacture it is likely to be French Polished. This is a complicated and skilled finishing technique. The polish is made from shellac dissolved in alcohol and is applied in a number of thin layers by a ';rubber';, basically a piece of cotton fabric wrapped around some cotton wool. The polish dries very rapidly and to stop the ';rubber'; sticking to the finish some linseed oil is put on the rubber to act as a lubricant. The skill comes in knowing how much to put on and when to stop rubbing, as you can easily re-dissolve earlier layers and tear the surface...I have made a pigs ear of it several times. The white rings are almost certainly water/heat damage from wet tea cups. The only real way to solve your problem is to re-apply the finish, a good furniture restoration book will give you all the details you need if you fancy having a go yourself...good luck, this link may help:-

Mr. Jack Hackett has it right
The white marks are probably made by over heating the surface beeswax. If you have the patience this needs to be scrapped off very carefully, then reapplied. This will also help fill in any small scratches. It sounds as if you have quite a good table which given the right care and attention will give you years of good use.

Any furniture restoration book will give you directions.
Toothpaste - mildly abrasive - will remove the white marks. You can try crayon of a similar color for the scratches...just color them in. good lluck.
Get the finest wire wool that you can and some Beeswax. Put a small amount of BW on wirewool and rub over mark in SMALL circular motions; gradually mark shoud disappear. (not too much pressure.)
in your spare time, bend over in front of a mirror and pull your bum cheeks apart and c your pinky anal.

Be very careful using Goof Off or Goo Be Gone because they will ruin the finish on your table. What you can use without damage to the wood is Dawn dish soap, close to full strength or WD-40 on a rag. Either will need more attention after removing the plastic residue. You will need to neutralize the dish soap with vinegar diluted in water and the WD-40 with a degreaser. How far away should a pool table be from a wall?

I want to turn our sun room into a game room which will include a pool table. What should the distance be between the wall and the pool table? How far away should a pool table be from a wall?
Minimum of 5 feet to the inside of the cloth rail.

This will allow you to hit a cue ball resting on the rail with a 3'; stroke, a cue stick is 57'; long. How far away should a pool table be from a wall?
The general rule-of-thumb is to have five feet on each side of the table. Most cues are 58 inches long, so this will give you just enough room to fit the cue, although you'll have to angle it slightly to get a decent backswing. Or you could always have shorter cues handy in these trouble spots.

Tables are generally sized as 3.5 x 7 ft, 4 x 8 ft, or 4.5 x 9 ft. So just add 10 feet to each dimension to get the total size of the room that will minimally comfortably fit a table.

What's the best way to repair and paint a wooden coffee table that is badly scratched?

I found a coffee table at an antique store that is solid wood and has gorgeous carved legs, but is badly scratched on the surface. I'd like to paint a mural on it, but I'm not sure how I should prep the table. Do I need to sand it all down and prime it first? Is it okay to use the same kind of primer as what you'd put on the walls? I'm also repainting my room so I have heaps of that primer around.

Some sanding and filling to take care of the scratches and then prime with a specialty primer.

    Bulls Eye Zero鈩?Primer
sand it down, and fill any scratches, continue sanding down through the grits to 240/280 grade.

Use a wood primer in light coats until you are satisfied with the surface, give a light rub with 320 grit make sure ALL dust is removed (tack cloth) and get to the enjoyable stage of your mural.

Think about the join between the top and the edge, if there is a moulding it might be better to mask it off and have the mural on the flat surface.

How come when you leave a glass on an unfinished table, it leaves a ring?

We have a really old antique table in my bedroom, and i left a glass on there throughout the day, it had left this really gross looking grey ring. What is happening to the wood when that happens? How come when you leave a glass on an unfinished table, it leaves a ring?
The glass will condensate because of the outside heat with the inside cold liquid and the water forming on the outside of the glass will drip down and all that. Under the glass, the cup is also condesating so the water will mostly soak around the bottom rim of the cup and then it will suction cup on the table and then form a ring. Thats all i got!

When my cat was young, she would jump up on the counter. What I did to make her stop was as soon as she jumped up there I would pick her up, put her back on the ground and say ';no';. If I was not close enough I would spray her with the squirt bottle. Eventually she understood, and stopped.

oh dear...I would try an ice cube, let the ice cube sit on the nail varnish for a while and when it goes cold it should harden, then...take a flat knife or thin blade and see if it peels off..good luck !

How can I rotate a table 90 degrees in microsoft word?

I need to rotate the entire table, including text by 90 degrees, so I can make the columns wider. I don't want to go through the trouble of creating a new table and rotating text boxes in each. Help? How can I rotate a table 90 degrees in microsoft word?
Ha! Great question; I just learnt something myself by fiddling around. Let me show you a trick!

You've been told to create a new document in landscape to allow for more room etc... but that doesn't answer your question.

You can rotate the text in the table - no problem. Just select the table and go to the Format menu --%26gt; Text direction. But that still doesn't answer your question.

If you have Excel, then there is a solution:

    - Copy your entire table and just paste it into Excel.

    - Select your table IN EXCEL and copy it. There is a good reason for copying it again, but in Excel.

    - Go to a different sheet (or scroll down further so that you have a clean space) and select a cell (like A1)

    - Go to the Edit menu --%26gt; Paste Special and click on the box beside ';Transpose'; and press OK.

    - VOILA! Your entire table has been turned 90 degrees!

    - Copy the whole thing and paste it back into Word.

You may have to fix up some colours/formatting, but at least you don't have to go to the effort of recreating/typing that entire table.

Thanks for asking this question - I had no idea you could do that. How can I rotate a table 90 degrees in microsoft word?
Excel solution - The transpose option exchanges the columns and rows. Unfortunately, it does not rotate a table. If you somehow managed to do this, let us know how.

Page orientation - Sadly, there can be severe printing issues when using different page orientations within section breaks.

    Start a new document

    Set it up as landscape

Copy and paste in your table.

Adjust it to the size you need.

    Copy your table and then

Paste Special the table as a graphic like a bitmap (not a MS Object) into your source document.

Now you can rotate it and treat it like any other graphic - you just can't edit it.
you dont need to rotate the table

    if you have word 2003:

go to a new document then file%26gt;page setup and change the layout to horizontal

    if you have word 2007:

go to a new document select the page setup tab and change the orientation to horizontal

then copy and paste the table from the other document and widen it
I don't recall Word being able to rotate text or utilize text boxes (changing the page layout to landscape could be an alternative).

Perhaps I'm mistaken, but I recommend you do this on PowerPoint, it's going to be a time saver instead of trying to do all this process manually.
    Unfortunately you can not.
You might try selecting the page and setting it to landscape.

Not a perfect fix, but it might help.
