I was using my dining room table as an ironing board with only a towel to protect it, and I was using the steam setting. This, of course, ruined the finish on my table in that area. It didn't hurt the wood, but rather just the lacquer finish. Is there anyway to repair this without stripping, sanding and refinishing the whole table. All youve got is some moisture trapped in the finish.... I dont know how many times Ive seen this here, in YAnswers, hehehe....
Use your hair dryer.
Almost sounds too simple doesnt it? No sanding, no stripping of the finish....
As I said, the problem is moisture trapped in the finish itself... all you have to do is help it evaporate out of the finish.
Set the hair dryer to the low heat setting, and gently move it back and forth across the blemish. The idea is to heat up the finish enough to evaporate the moisture, but not so hot it will damage the finish. Takes a little time, depending on how much moisture youve actually got trapped in it... and you can repeat the operation as often as necessary, if you allow to cool down a bit in between.
Ive used this 'repair' technique myself several times and it works, saving customers hundreds of dollars.
