Does a welding table get hot when its being welded on?

I need to design a welding table for shops class but i don't know how hot the table gets when its being welded on. Also will a part of the table that's not close to the area that's being welded on, will it get hot? Like the legs or something.Does a welding table get hot when its being welded on?
The table will only get hot but only a small area were the workpiece is on such as a T fillet so say you was welding a T fillet 150mm long the only area to get warm is around that. so if u are welding to steel Lade on the bench that bit off the bench will get warm on the surface off the table not the legs. But also depends the Amps you are using. the steel surface for the table needs to be about 6mm. Also every so often the bench will need grinding down were weld has stuck to the table such as if learners strike the table insted off the workpice. You are best making the table out off angle steel %26amp; 6mm plate for table top. :o)Does a welding table get hot when its being welded on?
I second Ashley's comments.

Incidentally, there's a new wiki for welding sponsored by the Gases and Welding Distributors Association at http://www.gawdawiki.org/gwiki/index.php鈥?/a> and http://www.gawdawiki.org/. The first address is for an interactive wiki of welding and industrial gases terms. It has a lot of information you and your class may find useful.
Thank you so much ';Welding and Gases';.
