Ok i think i know this trick as i've done it before. There's person A and person B, or ';mentalist'; and the person who picks the card on yours, but i dunno what you mean. So person A and person B both work together on this. Person A would set up the cards on a 3x3 grid, 9 cards. Person B would go away for a while, i'm guessing the ';mentalist';? But ok, Person A would pick one out of those 9 and show the audience, let's say the card at the top right. Person B would come back. Person A then points at a card (not the one at the top right corner), and let's say he points the card at the bottom left corner BUT he'll point the top right corner ON the card he first picked. So now Person B would know that the correct card is at the top right corner. Person A would go around and continue to point cards and ask if that's the one, and when he reaches the card at the top right corner, person B would say yea that's it!
Basically,
-Person B goes away.
-Person A chooses a card (let's say middle) and shows the audience.
-Person B comes back.
-Person A picks a card other than the correct card (let's say middle left card).
-Person A points in the middle of that card, to show Person B that the correct card's in the MIDDLE.
-Person A goes around picking cards until they reach the middle card.
-Person B verifies it.

A year ago I bought a really nice glass top coffee table, But it's getting small hair thin scratches. How do I get a musty smell from an oak table that was stored in a basement?
I purchased a beautiful oak table from a friend. He bought 3 of these tables from a store going out of business and stored two of them for several years. About a day after the table go here I noticed a musty odor from it. What should I use to clean it?How do I get a musty smell from an oak table that was stored in a basement?
As long as it's not an antique or very delicate you can ';steam it';.
This means you put it in the bathroom and then turn the shower on very hot and let the room fill up with steam. Note: Do not put it in the water!!
After about 10 - 15 minutes wash it down from top to bottom with a liberal ammount of murphy's oil or lemon soap cleaner for wood and dry it immediately.
This is all assuming you are in a wintry climate right now and cannot put it outside. If you are not in a snowy or rainy climate you can simply put the table outside for a day or two -- in a relatively shaded place that is protected from the elements. The UV will help to kill any mold spores which cause the mildewy smell.
Worst case scenario, the table will air out in your kitchen over time and with a few cleanings.

If it doesn鈥檛 just go away when the damp dries then you need to look for something on it that might be making the smell. Wood doesn鈥檛 smell once seasoned (well that a lie, but not noticeably) so the smell is being made by something else. If there is something living in or on your table then there are various chemicals you can buy to treat the wood and I suggest you phone your local auction house and see if they have a restorer that can help you identify the specific infestation. If it shows no visible signs of mold or infestation (small holes indicate present or past woodlice, and white patches might be mold for example) then you need to run your hand over the surface to check that instead.
It should feel smooth, rather than ridge like. Damp makes grain in wood rise and something can be growing in the ridges. If it's ridge like then your next step depends on the surface on the table.
I assume it's either varnished or waxed - it might be oiled. Varnished is the most difficult, but also the least likely to have microscopic life. What you need is some sand paper or a belt sander. Sand the WHOLE table with coarse then fine paper. If it is a bacterial problem then if you don鈥檛 sand it all, it could spread back.
Then oil (preferably with linseed or boiled linseed, but veg oil does ok) with a paint brush all over every couple of hours for a couple of days. The grain will swell again but this is ok the oil is replacing the water in the table. This will finish your table, and if you like the way it looks you can leave it like this 鈥?oil it about twice a year or more if you want. If you want it to look more highly finished then sand again with fine paper and then either wax or varnish your table (varnish is hardest to make look good in multiple coats, but a nicest finish is gained from rubbing the varnish rather than painting it. Wax needs doing again every couple of years to keep a nice finish)

If you don't feel like making such a pricey investment, you could always try using rope lights. They come with plastic clips for mounting, so they'd be less cumbersome and less likely to fall than christmas lights. Only problem there might be a power source.

Save the exact same kibble until next mealtime. In the meantime do not offer any treats and do not allow her to have any human food. She will get hungry and start eating soon enough. She may hold out a say or so, but she will not starve herself to make a point. Do not worry! =)

EDITED TO ADD; Don't feel guilty, you are saving your little friend's life. She is a toy breed dog, they are prone to obesity as it takes very little in extras to add up. Commercially prepared dog food is required to meet the animals nutritional needs through the food alone. Treats should be given very sparingly.
well kindof mix in the table with the hard but slowly lower the amount of table food...and instead mix in some soft food with hard food

Charlie, our 18-pound Lhasa mix is so spoiled that every morning, he has a slice of bread with us for breakfast and at night, I mix a boiled handful of stew meat or chicken in with his regular dry food (录 meat to 戮 dry) and he has become so accustomed to this diet that he absolutely will not eat anything else.
I did check with our vet about his diet and he said that as long as I don't give him anything other than what I have been feeding him, Charlie is as healthy as a horse and as long as he eats it, it is ok.
In your situation of not wanting her to eat human food, as you talking about eating whatever it is that you eat or are you meaning it to be like the diet I give Charlie? If you are meaning it to be that it is whatever you eat, that is a BAD thing and what you should maybe try to do is to leave her food down in a cool, dry place that is free of the possiblilty of ants and other insects getting to it and start to cut back, little by little, on the food other than her own and ignore her if she begs and whatever you do, DON'T GIVE IN!
It might take a little of her getting use to it, but once she sees that you are not going to give her anything, she will start to eat her own food when she is hungry enough (I'm not talking about starving her to death, by any means) because she may try a battle of wits to see how long it will take before you give in, but as long as you keep the bowl of her kibbles where she can get to it and knows where its at and ignore her 'cuteness' and stick to your guns, you will gain the upper hand.

It is a brand called Royal Canin and get either the one Shih Tsu or the one for Small Dog. A small 5lb bag is about $14, but Charlie seems to like it and it claims to be fortified with vitamins and minerals. I also have a Black Lab and for him, I buy the 37.5 lb bag that lasts close to a month, his is $45 and it is breed specific for a Labrador Retriever. The only down side is that this brand of food, while more expensive than most of the others, NEVER goes on sale and is only available at PetSmart. To me, the cost doesn't matter as long as they both eat it, stay healthy and are happy.
BTW, every dog I have ever had has been on a similar peeople food/dog food combination and every one of them has lived happy, healthy lives into their early to mid-teens.

How do I paint an oak dining table?
I have an oak dining table. It is relatively new and the finish is in great condition. I just don't like the color; it is very light. I looked into refinishing, but that sounds rather difficult. Would painting it be easier? Would I still have to completely remove the finish?
I really like the look of dark furniture, and I think I would like it painted black. Would I regret painting a nice solid oak table?

they both take about the same amount of work..just practice staining first if your going to do that instead of paint
to paint-sand down the finish..it doesnt have to be all gone just get rid of the top clear coat layer-put on a primer (since your going dark i want to say use a tinted one)-use some sand parer and lightly sand this so that there arent any brush strakes for the top coat-put on one or two coats of your chosen colour-put on a finsih sealing coat
staining/refinishing-sand it down until all the finish is gone-make sure you wipe the tabel down so their is no dust or dirt on it-aplly the stain using a brush following the grain-put on another coat, maybe even more if needed-put on a finish coat
* if you dont know how to stain just ask on here again:P

If you put a good primer on it first you might get away with black. The primer will keep the black paint from getting too deeply into the wood. Oak is such a beautiful wood though. Why would you want to paint it? Better to just sand and varnish it with tung oil to its natural beauty. Buy a pine or some other soft wood if you are wanting a black piece of furniture. JMHO

they both take about the same amount of work..just practice staining first if your going to do that instead of paint
to paint-sand down the finish..it doesnt have to be all gone just get rid of the top clear coat layer-put on a primer (since your going dark i want to say use a tinted one)-use some sand parer and lightly sand this so that there arent any brush strakes for the top coat-put on one or two coats of your chosen colour-put on a finsih sealing coat
staining/refinishing-sand it down until all the finish is gone-make sure you wipe the tabel down so their is no dust or dirt on it-aplly the stain using a brush following the grain-put on another coat, maybe even more if needed-put on a finish coat
* if you dont know how to stain just ask on here again:P

I foolishly bought a pendant lamp with only a 100 watt halogen light bulb for my dining area. Now that I've decided to replace it with a bigger chandalier, how many watts of light should I be looking at? I do have a Lutron dimmer, so it'll be adjustable. Since the bottle caps have depth, I suggest that you find a store that specializes in stained glass and ask them what they use to seal/level mosaic table tops. There is no point in you spending that much time putting the table together only to ruin it with guessing on the last step.

I have a crack on my marbled table when my relocation company moved it in December/January. However, they are now denying the claim, stating that the crack was due to weather condition changes. The others are right to suggest a spray bottle to discourage this, but also you may want to consider the reasons he may have started doing this. Do you give him people food sometimes? If so, he may have come to the conclusion that people food is for him, too, so he goes onto the table to look for it. Also, since he is an intact male, he is at the age when he is developing secondary sex characteristics such as territorial tendencies. Intact male cats like to scope out higher places like tables, desks, and countertops. I wouldn't be suprised if he soon starts leaving his pungent urine marks on the table. my kitten is six months and he is the same with our barstools and bar...I use a squirt bottle and yell, or occasionally swat him gently on the butt...its worked so far =)
spray him with a water bottle or sprinkle pepper all over the table for a day or two ..
God! If you figure it out, email me!!! My cat has been doing that for years!!! -- and he's neutered! FYI, water didn't seem to affect him in the least.
i stopped mine jumping on my kitchen benches by rubbing orange peel around the edges and leaving a huge bowl of citrus fruit on it or alternatively cats detest the smell of lavender so you could try putting a lavender pot plant on the table
THERE IS NEVER ANY NEED TO GET AGGRESSIVE TOWARDS AN ANIMAL THERE IS ALWAYS ANOTHER WAY THEY DONT UNDERSTAND AGGRESSION
I wish i knew the answer to this one. It would have saved my gorgeous teak table from all the scratches embedded. Now I have to refinish the entire thing, including the chairs because they didn't leave them alone either. it seems they didn't respect any wood in the house. Its good that you are seeking advice quick in the game. good luck!
