Table of contents. How to make one that creates itself if word document already exists?

I have a rather large manual in Word. It does not follow standard outline format. It will be customized by various users. Can I still make an Table of Contents for it so that those who add or delete portions will still have a correct Table of Contents?Table of contents. How to make one that creates itself if word document already exists?
Are you using Office 2007?

If yes, simply change the titles and/or ask the contributors to use the Heading 1 or Heading 2 (it's on the Home Tab, Styles Section).

So when you create a table of contents (Reference Tab, Table of Contents Section), you can merely update it whenever a contributor add or deletes a portion of the manual in the future.

Hope I have helped.
