How to know if your toe is broken, jammed, dislocated, or sprained?

I was in my garage%26amp;then i stubbed my toe on the table. Like, it scraped my toe from above, and it hurts if you put any pressure on it. I've put ice and a warm wash cloth on it. I took my temperature 3 hours after the stubbing, and it was 100.5. So.. what does it sound like? How to know if your toe is broken, jammed, dislocated, or sprained?
If you're really worried, go to the doctor and get an x-ray. You never know, it might just be a huge coincidence and you stubbed your toe and have the flu or something.
