How do you use table salt to kill fleas and what are the downfalls of using salt. How well does it work?

I don't have animals but we have a flea problem. They are eating me alive and my apartment is taking their time on fixin the problem. I am a mom with two young boys so I don't want to use harmful chemicals and I don't have the money for it either. I have heard that table salt kills them. Is this true and will it last for at least a week and a half? Thanks for your help!How do you use table salt to kill fleas and what are the downfalls of using salt. How well does it work?

tell the managment that you will sue. It is a serious problem. You can also call the heath department. I have a dog, but I spray the house with Ortho Home Defence Max. Get the easy spray one at any Home depot, Lowes, Ace its under 15.00 and you get a gallon It is safe, you spray it along the basesboards or there are safe sprays for flees at the pet stores but the Ortho works on all bugs. Oh and to make you feel better do it when the kids are asleep. They wont be in the way...I have never heard of salt killing fleas just slugs.
Salt of any kind will not kill fleas, and you have 2 issues:

';One'; - The apartment manager should be contacted ASAP, not only for you and your family, but for the neighbors as well. It will do no good to treat your area alone.

';Two'; - While your waiting on the manager to do his work, go to walmarts, and buy the Flea Foggers, for you square footage. It is a small price to pay, to keep you %26amp; boys flea free for a short time. Read The Directions Carefully, and Air Room After.
Go to wal mart a buy a couple of flea but bombs. Close the windows let them off and leave the house for the time on the label. You may not be able to stop the problem, if someone else in you place has the fleas.. They WHOLE place has to be done. They come back to easy. Call you landlord and tell him the problem, and do all the apartments and once. You have a health hazard.. Good Luck

MOTH CRYSTALS KILLS THE EGGS SO LEAVE APT FOR AT LEAST 12 HRS THEN VACUUM THOROUGHLY WHEN YOU RETURN GET A BOTTLE OF RID-A -BUG AND SPRAY ALL CRACKS AND WINDOW,LEDGES AND DOOR OPENINGS , TAKE PETS WITH YOU WHEN YOU PUT MOTH CRYSTALS DOWN,DON'T FORGET UNDER ALL CUSHIONS AND JUST SPRINKLE CRYSTALS AROUND CARPETED WALLS LIGHTLY WILL HELP KEEP THYEM FROM RETURNING
I have never heard of using table salt but there is something that you can use that is just as safe as table salt. Boric acid can be sprinkled along baseboards and cracks and anywhere else that the fleas may go. They get it on them and carry it back to their nest and contaminate the rest of them. It causes chemical burns on them and then they die. Borax is the same chemical makeup as boric acid and can be used as well.
Contact your local building inspector and have a talk with them. They can put pressure on the land-lord to get it done or get fined.
