How does a couple sit at a table?

Say the table has four sides......Do you sit across from each other? Or do you sit next to each other? Just wondering what everyone else out there does

Thanks in advancedHow does a couple sit at a table?
If the table is not too big, we would sit across from each other so that we could talk and face each other. If it is a really big table we would sit at 90 degrees to each other. If one side had a great view of a sunset we would share one side and sit shoulder to shoulder. It just kind of depends on the place, scenery, size of table, noise. How does a couple sit at a table?
I most often sat next to my boyfriend. Sometimes is seemed more intimate. There are no rules.
We generally sit across.
I see couples sitting across from each other. However is there is a terrific view at a certain angle, we'll choose the view.
If it's a square table out by itself on the floor, we sit cornerwise. If it's a booth, or a table with the short end against the wall, we sit across from each other at the end away from the wall. Sometimes when the padded bench is a bit rump-sprung, we sit in the middle of the length of the table.

At home, our table is pushed up against a window wall, so we sit across from each other.
I don't really think there is one ';right'; way. It depends on several things... the size of the table, how noisy the place, if it's a first date I would sit across from the person unless it's so noisy I couldn't have a conversation, otherwise I'd probably sit next to the person. I would just go with what feels comfortable.
If it is JUST the couple using the table, it is up to them how they seat in relation to the other or their surroundings.

Have a polite day.
