How to remove cheap felt tip pen from table?

Someone bought my daughter a set a cheap pound store felt tips and she has managed to get them all over my dining table. It is oak and has a sheen on it, so I believe it is slighty varnished. I have tried hairspray, nail varnish remover, bleach and general cleaning fluids but it will not budge. Has anyone any suggestions before I get out the meths. How to remove cheap felt tip pen from table?
here are some ideas that may work:

i always first try boiling water: cover the stain with a towel, pour about a cup of boiling water on it, and see if it comes off, its amazing what boiling water can do

the last thing i ever try is lighter fluid; and the reason i try it last is its so dangerous, for obvious reasons..... but i have never used it on any kind of stain and it not work. Put the lighter fluid on a cotton ball, wear rubber gloves, and clean off the stain, use the same method you would use to remove nail polish from your nails.

you could try opening a bottle of non aerosol hair spray and pouring it on the stain and letting it soak for a while before wiping it off

try toothpaste with baking soda, rub it on the stain and let it sit for 10 minutes

a mr. clean magic eraser may take it offHow to remove cheap felt tip pen from table?
Mister Clean Magic Eraser..........Works on just about anything
Boil the cloth in milk, the stains should get out.
cilit bang or cif
Use toothpaste and a cloth, and scrub it off.

I did this to get permanent marker off a work surface and it works a treat.

:o)
This will sound bizarre, but here goes.

Try ';white board'; marker pens. The sort that wipe off. That's how to get permanent marker pen off a white-board.

Long story short, felt tip is coloured particles in a solvent. When the solvent evaporates the particles are stuck. If you use another form of solvent (like in the white-board pens) you can shift them, then wipe them away while they are still suspended in the different solvent used in the white-board marker.

Worth a try!
Alcohol (vodka or other clear strong spirit) should do it.
vinegar
try using goo be gone
Try scrubbing bubbles and leave it on for a few minutes.

It could get easter dye out of my hard wood floor without ruining it, I think it can handle markers.
