How do I fix polyurethane that is flaking off a table?

I recently refinished a table and applied several coats of poly. Something was recently dropped on the table and dented it. The poly is started to flake off. Any suggestions? How do I fix polyurethane that is flaking off a table?
That's the trouble with polyurethane - tough to repair.

Flaking sounds as if the surface wasn't properly prepared or some oil from your hand maybe was left on the surface. Sand the flakiness back down to the wood and feather it out. You'll probably have to scuff up the remainder and refinish the whole surface. Poly in a spray can will give the smoothest finishHow do I fix polyurethane that is flaking off a table?
you'll need to sand it down to where the base of the chip is %26amp; then slowly start filling it w/ poly again.
