How do you insert a main and secondary title for a table using Word, 2007 version?

For example, the main table has 4 rows and 4 columns. I know how to do that, but how do I insert a one row and one column title above the table?

There has to be an easier way than simpy adding a new table on top of the old one.

Thanks! How do you insert a main and secondary title for a table using Word, 2007 version?
Is this what you mean?

1) select the first row (click to the left of the row)

2) right click the selection

3) click merge cells.
