How can you remove glitter from a wood table?

My annoying roommates got glitter all over the wood table. It's all dry now and I can't get it off.

Is there anyway to remove it without damaging the table? How can you remove glitter from a wood table?
I do wood finishing as a living, and I can tell you that none of the answers above will do you any good. First off, I'm sure you don't want to sand the finish off your table just to get some glitter off. Second of all, I'm sure that if you DID sand the glitter and finish off, you would have no idea how to re-finish or match the stain/finish coat on your table. DO NOT sand the table unless you are prepared to re-finish it.

To fix this problem I would recommend buying a putty knife from your local Paint store, or even any Walmart or Fred Meyers type of store.

Make sure that when you buy the knife it has a sharp edge. If you find that it's too sharp, apply a piece of scotch tape to the bottom of it, so that the tape is perfectly aligned with the very edge of the blade. This will provide a layer of lubrication between the surface of your table, and the blade. Angle the putty knife at about 20 degrees and proceed to scrape the glitter off very gently, making sure to not scratch the table. The lower the angle you use with the putty knife, the less chance you of have scraping or digging into your table. It might take a while, but it most certainly will be the cheapest/less destructive way to remove the glitter from your table, trust me. Seriously, the answerers above, really don't know what they are talking about.

My only other suggestion would be to try using paint thinner (also known as mineral spirits) and wiping the table down with an old rag. I wouldn't recommend using any other product stronger than Paint Thinner, such as Goof-Off or GooGone. They will not only remove the glitter, but also the protective finish coat from your tableHow can you remove glitter from a wood table?
It will come off with a sander or sand paper. You can also try using oven cleaner on it.
Googone. Or sandpaper and polish. Googone is better, though.
Remove the wood first and then the glitter will no longer be there.

Wow, I was hoping to some day be able to use that quote. Thank you.
is it stuck to the table?
use your nail polish remover to remove it, it really works
You could try using a med. adhesive painters tape and wrap it around your hands/fingers w/ sticky side out.

If it's glue you may have to sand it and refinish the surface. Or try using mineral spirits. you may also try a damp rag if the glue isn't waterproof.
was it mixed glitter glue, if so warm water may dissolve it, and you can just wipe it off.

If it was plain white ';school'; glue with glitter sprinkled on it'll come also off with warm water and a little elbow grease.

If it was super glue, just put a table cloth on cause you're stuck with it....LOL....sorry
