How to paint and finish a old cheap table?

I have a old console table from Target. It's cheap, the type that comes with a retouching stick (magic marker). I have had burns from candles and scratches on the table and would love to repaint it (probably with stencils) to make it look good again.

Any advice or a website with step by step instructions? I'm a novice at painting, stenciling, finishing what have you.

First sand the table lightly.

Then paint using floor paint. (2 or 3 coats.) Floor paint is more durable than wall paint. You can have the paint tinted to any color you like. I suggest you use a small paint roller, instead of a paint brush. You'll get a prettier finish.

Allow that to dry and paint on your stencils.

Let that dry and give it a couple coats of polyurethane to seal it.

You can buy stencils through eBay.com or most craft shops. How to paint and finish a old cheap table?
Give it a good sanding

Then use some primer on it.

Then paint it the coor of your choice, for a smoother finish use a small roller to apply paint and primer.

The people at the home improvement store where you buy the paint can help you with the stenciling advice.
It's really easy to renew an old table, my advice is, don't only paint the table one color, if it's ruined. For example, take one color and paint the whole table, then you can take a different color and make some kind of drawings, or use stencils. But remember to use the brush in one way like up and down because sometimes you can make a big mistake if used in both ways.

P.S. If you want to save money buy a little can of paint in two colors an Home Depot, not so much cash there. As well, if using paint to renew your table, doesn't work for you, and this idea is really odd.

I once bought a hot glue gun, and I took pictures from magazines and fashion, and I glued it on a nightstand I still have today, it looks so cool and it was easy since my drawings are like a kindergartners :)
