I am in the process of completing a chemistry lab that deals with testing strong and weak electrolytes when added to water.
How does the electrolyte properties of table salt (NaCl) change when it is slowly added to distilled water in small amounts? Does the solution start out a strong electrolyte and remain a strong electrolyte? Does it become stronger as more salt is added? Distilled water doesn't conduct electricity. NaCl dissociates (for all intents and purposes) at 100%. As you add NaCl to the water more ions are forming, which allow for better conduction of electricity. Water, by itself, is a terrible conductor of electricity; ions dissolved in the water make it a good conductor. A solid isn't as good a conductor as an ion solution is if I remember correctly
