My cat always climbs on the table and counter. I always have to pick her up and put her back on the floor. She jumps up and always knocks things over and shes on the table when we're eating, sniffing food and going by your plate. I had 2 cats that did this all the time. I started putting strips of duct tape sticky side up on the counters and table. I would come home and find tape with hair all over it on the floor. After about 2 weeks of this they stopped getting up on things.How do u keep a cat from climbing on a table?
Easy,
Just feed them with cat food, and never allow anyone to feed them with other kind of. They will learn fast that their food is not on the table, but in their vase on the floor.
spray her with a water sprayer? don't leave food lying around. never let her eat or try human food! just keep shoving her off and say no! or clap your hands so when she hears it she'll remember. the secret to having a tame cat is to be nice to them!

I have heard that you can train them with a squirt gun. Just squirt them with water and they will get the message.
I have not found a way yet. I have had my cats for 2 years and it is nearly impossible to teach them to stay off the tables/counters. I read in a book that you can cover your surfaces in something sticky to keep them off, but then you would have sticky surfaces and that would suck even more! Good luck, but I don't think it's possible unless you have a very trainable cat. I have tried spraying mine with water and they just look at me like I'm an idiot.

Get a spray water bottle, every time she jumps up on the table, give her a spray. Just one time, enough to make her get down. Don't give in sometimes, and not spray her. It doesn't hurt, it is just something they don't like, therefore, you're training her not to do it.

Get a can and add some change to it. When you see her jumping or getting ready to jump, shake the can and the horrible, loud noise will scare her. If you keep doing this, she will associate the scary noise with jumping on the table. You can also try a water bottle and squirt her, although it's not as effective. Another option is to take a plastic floor protector, the kind with the pokies on the bottom to help it stay in place...place this on the table upside down and when she jumps up there, she will hate to walk on those pokies and eventually quit jumping up there.

Kittens are so nosey and energetic and always want to be where the action is.
I used a spray bottle to keep my two kittens away when I wanted to eat my meal in peace. That worked very well.
I feed some of my cats on a counter in my kitchen so they jump up there for their food, not mine.
I have two cats and we trained them not to climb on the table by keeping a squirt bottle next to it and squirting them just a tiny bit every time they jumped on, you're cat will get it in a week or so
Our cats still do this when we are not in the room. They do not jump on tables when we are there though (achieved by a sharp no and a growl when they jumped up). The little horrors have been known to steal food when we are upstairs and cooling chickens and defrosting meat has to be placed well away from feline escapades - my moggie once took a whole chicken coated in barbacue sauce through my lounge over the carpet!!
Squirt bottles don't work on my kitty. She loves getting wet! Drinks water out of faucet in bath tub too.
A sudden loud startling noise always does the trick though.

Tinfoil...sounds stupid but it worx...something about the tinfoil makes the feeling bad to them. As soon as she jumps up it will freak her out both by the sound and by the feel...Good luck!

Here is an idea! If you put double-sided sticky tape, bubble wrap, or foil on the counter/tabletops when cat jumps up there she will not (probably) like the feeling below her so this will create an unpleasant experience and hopefully this will solve your problem.

Since your cat likes water, the spray bottle probably won't work. Instead, try what another poster suggested; coins or marbles in a metal can make a lot of noise. Cats generally don't like sudden loud noises. Just give the can a shake whenever she jumps on the counters or table.

How do I remove paint from a table?
I bought a table and am planning on refinishing it. Stripped the varnish off the table top. No problem there. The legs however were painted black and under the black they were painted green. Used a paint stripper to get the black layer off. It came off easily. The green paint underneath though is very resistant to stripper. I've applied several coats and left each coat on for long periods of time, like between a half hour and an hour at a time. There are spots that I've managed to get down to the wood but took extreme time and effort to get. Are there any other chemicals I could try? Suggestions?How do I remove paint from a table?

no charts are known for this its still an art
then use steel wool to smooth and re wipe with mineral spirits , repeat as needed
them use wipe on finish coat (easy to use)
use wipe on , follow steps on container and you are DONE

I have a natural color wooden changing table that we bought for my son when he was born 3 years ago. We are having a baby girl and want everything in white. We had to buy a new crib and have a white dresser. We want to use my son's changing table, but would like it white. How do you change the color? Do I need to sand it, then prime and paint it? The professional way to go is sand, prime with a stainblocking primer, then paint. However, if this is your first time, unless you are a perfectionist, it will probably not turn out great even then. It's hard to sand into corners without taking furniture apart. It can be done, though.

How can I raise the height of my dining room table?
I have bought a brand new dining room table and chairs, but the two end chairs with the armrests are about an inch and a half too high to slide underneath the table. I have seen a lot of different types of furniture lifts and caster, but they are either too big or poor quality. I need something that is about 1 1/2'; in diameter and 1 1/2'; high. It needs to be something that the table legs cannot slip off. Does anyone have any ideas?How can I raise the height of my dining room table?

Do you know if the paint was latex based or oil based....
Go get a bottle of white spirit. This will take a long time but you may be able to save the finish.... DO NOT USE SAND PAPER EMERY PAPER SANDER OR ANYTHING LIKE THAT!!!
Ok... get a rag pure some white spirit on it and wipe one corner of the table.... if you are lucky the paint should start coming off.. Ok what you might see... is that tthe paint lifts or blisters using your fingers peel the paint slowly... its amazing how much paint you can remove this way.... move slowly accross the table... Do not rush and dont over do the white spirit you dont want to damage the origional finish under the paint..........
Have a bottle of OLD ENGLISH LIQUID when you have all the paint removed soak the table top with oald english liquid .. ( Origional is the best). coat the whole table to legs and every were thats wood with this. Do not use varnish or stain... just use the old english You will be supprised on how good it will look..How do you refurbish an old antique table?

Scrape off with a SHARP scraping tool. I like the ';T'; top kind, easy to keep sharp with a bastard file.
Sand: 80, 100, 120, 220 gritt, following the grain.
Stain or oil (linseed, turpentine, parafin mixture, no varnish or sealer required)
Varnish, sanding with 220 gritt between coats.
Fun project, need help?

Kick your cat casper in the pants. Just kidding. Get rid of your table (or move it) to a different location and see what your dear cat casper does then.
You can try a water bottle...that would be the cheapest way. Just give the cat a squirt and see what happens. Cats are VERY independent and will generally do what they want. They can be tought but it takes time.
Cats love to jump on the dinner table you have to keep taking him off of the table by a nice and gentle push so he jumps off.
Try a water bottle or water gun. It doesnt hurt them just pisses them off. They hate water. Soon enough all you would have to do is shake it and they hear it and and run and then they don't get up their any more.
well get your train in a pet shop or a pet school and try to teach her that the table is bad and taking something away. But first get a trainer for her.

They have a bad place and that's the bedroom. They are trained to go to bed when we go to bed... and they get up when we get up.

When they do something wrong.. something you're training them not to do, give them a shot with the squirter (actually, get a couple of different ones because they will learn the sound it makes when you pick it up). I know it sounds cruel, but spritz him with a water bottle, usually after 2 or 3 times of getting sprayed she will get the hint shes not supposed to be there, and keep the water bottle on the table for a few weeks to remind the cat its not welcome there. This is not as mean as it sounds, cats dont like water but its a training technique that should work, unless you have a weird cat that likes water....

I'm going to be honest with you, I don't know if this will work or not because I have never had this problem. A friend of mine took a bowl about the size of a cake pan and filled it with pure ammonia. She said her cat jumped on the table once or twice, but the smell of the ammonia made her jump right off again. Now she just leaves the empty bowl on her table. I do know that my cat has jumped in my lap while I'm painting my fingernails, and as soon as he got a whiff of the polish remover he took off like a bullet! It might be worth a try. If your table it big, you might try a couple of bowls. I think it stings their nostrils and eyes but it won't hurt them because they don't get close enough. They hate it.

The water bottle method often works, but if she sees you're the one shooting her with water, she'll just know not to get up there when you're around. When you're out she'll be lounging on the table like before. Try and hide when you squirt her, so she doesn't know where the water is coming from.
The double sided tape and foil ideas are great, too. Another method: put something up there with a smell that cats hate. My personal favourite is lemon slices - they're cheap, they smell nice to humans, but not to cats. You can also put a perfumed air freshener up there. She'll eventually realise the table's not such a great place to be and will stop getting up there.

If your table it big, you might try a couple of bowls. I think it stings their nostrils and eyes but it won't hurt them because they don't get close enough. They hate it.
have a squirt bottle of water next to the table, and every time you see her on it squit her with the water (thats what we do, it works pretty well but it may take a while)
everytime it gets on the table shoot it with a squrit gun,it will stop.
The water bottle method often works, but if she sees you're the one shooting her with water, she'll just know not to get up there when you're around. When you're out she'll be lounging on the table like before. Try and hide when you squirt her, so she doesn't know where the water is coming from.
The double sided tape and foil ideas are great, too. Another method: put something up there with a smell that cats hate. My personal favourite is lemon slices - they're cheap, they smell nice to humans, but not to cats. You can also put a perfumed air freshener up there. She'll eventually realise the table's not such a great place to be and will stop getting up there.

get a squirt gun. i had a friend used mouse traps covered w. paper on a couch.... makes a loud noise.
